Disasters strike unanticipated resulting into major loss of lives and properties. The Foundation has set up a Disaster Relief Assistance Unit (DRAU) at its Mumbai Office. With its limited resources, the Foundation has pledged itself to provide, wherever possible, the humanitarian relief and assistance to the disaster affected families and individuals in the country. The relief services would include reception, processing and distribution of relief materials which may include food materials, clothing, bedding, medicines etc. in the disaster affected areas. Such services would also include networking with other local, national and international organisations to streamline relief services.
The Pay Off: Trafficking and Corruption -- Victims of trafficking are afraid to testify or contact law enforcement due to their complicity with traffickers and pimps. In Israel, the Hotline for Migrant Workers made an appeal on behalf of three women who had testified that the same men that arrested them, had been clients at the brothel from which they were detained. In March 2002, a policeman charged with the buying of a trafficked woman and tipping brothel owners of police raids was sentenced to only six months of community service.
