One of the primary objectives of the Foundation is to contribute to the development of International Human Rights by bringing about greater public awareness and promote human values. Thus along with the other activities in this direction, the Foundation has initiated a Post Graduate Certificate Course in Human Rights.

Human Rights is a subject which transcend all disciplines. The course attempts to ground participants not only in the laws on Human Rights but also in political theory, international relations and in the philosophical foundation of rights, so that they study the whole context of the continuing struggle to promote and protect Human Rights.

The primary goal is to develop the participant’s ability to think critically and understand the intricacies of Human Rights. This would enhance the capacity of the participants to deliberate on the issues of Human Rights. The course aims to equip the participants with the means available for the protection of Human Rights, the information about the roles and functions including intervention programmes of different national and international Human Rights organisations. The participants of the course are from diverse backgrounds. Besides providing the participants with an introduction to human rights, the course also includes lectures on intergovernmental organisations, management and strategy techniques. The training also requires individuals to make presentations on the relevant themes, study expert reports, summarise and analyse debates.

The programme believes in the “spill over” phenomenon, that is one conscientious citizen will sensitise another and hence leading to a pool of citizens to fight not only the daily battle of rights but also spread the importance of realisation of Human Rights. Since the time the programme has been initiated, it has seen an overwhelming response over the years. Over one hundred participants have been awarded certificates after successful completion of the Course.
